Makes one large pizza
Let’s make it fancy.
Ingredients
- 1 package pizza dough mix, plus the ingredients listed on the package
- ½ pound Italian sausage
- ¾ cup prepared Alfredo sauce
- 1½ cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- ¾ cup whole-milk ricotta cheese
- ½ teaspoon Italian seasoning
- ¼ teaspoon garlic powder
- 2 cups fresh arugula, optional
- ¼ cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese
- Hot honey, for drizzling
- Olive oil, for brushing the crust
- Crushed red pepper flakes, optional
Not an arugula fan? Feel free to leave it off. It will still be so tasty.
Directions
- Prepare the pizza dough according to the package directions. Allow it to rest as directed while you prepare the toppings.
- Preheat the oven according to the pizza dough package instructions. Place a pizza stone or baking sheet in the oven while it heats, if desired.
- Cook the Italian sausage in a skillet over medium heat, breaking it into small pieces as it cooks. Drain any excess grease and set aside.
- Stretch or roll the dough into a large circle or rectangle and place it on a pizza pan or parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Lightly brush the outer edge of the crust with olive oil.
- Spread the Alfredo sauce over the dough, leaving a small border around the edge.
- Sprinkle the mozzarella evenly over the sauce, then add the cooked Italian sausage.
- Stir the ricotta with the Italian seasoning and garlic powder. Add small dollops of the seasoned ricotta evenly over the pizza.
- Bake according to the dough package instructions, usually 12–16 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is melted and bubbling.
- Remove the pizza from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes.
- Top with fresh arugula and grated Parmesan, then drizzle generously with hot honey. Add crushed red pepper flakes if you want a little extra heat.
The creamy Alfredo and ricotta balance the spicy sausage and hot honey, while the fresh arugula adds the perfect finishing touch.
It looks restaurant-worthy, but the pizza dough mix keeps it secretly simple.
Minimal fuss. Maximum flavor. That is how we fake it fancy.
